My Story

LIKE MOST DRIVERS, I WAS BORN INTO A RACING FAMILY...

LIKE MOST DRIVERS, I WAS BORN INTO A RACING FAMILY...

My earliest memories are of watching my dad race off-road buggies at a local short track.

I can still remember the layout of the track. And all of the drivers he raced against. The race-director named Rocky, a Canadian guy with big glasses and a bushy mustache. I remember driving to the track on the bench seat of my dads 71' C-10 Pickup and the feeling of excitement when we rolled into the parking lot. It's safe to say I loved racing from the start!

then it was my turn

I had a quad as a kid but I didn't get in the seat competitively until I was 11. My dad built me a flat track car that looked similar to his off-road buggy and I started my career at a local indoor series. I took to driving fairly quickly and by the time I was 13 I was racing against drivers in their 30's and 40's, and having a lot of success. Winning races and collecting a handful of championships. But we weren't racing full time, because I was also involved in other sports, and I played high level baseball until I graduated High School

After high school I decided it was time to go racing full-time

When I graduated High School I decided to hang up the Baseball glove and pass up the opportunity to play College Baseball. I knew it was time to pursue my true love and passion for motorsports. So we put together a Winged Sprint Car and went racing, which was a huge jump from a car with 170HP to a 700+HP Sprint Car. It was amazing, and we had some success, but more than anything I'm thankful for the memories and friendships I made along the way. We didn't ultimately have the success I had hoped for and eventually the financial burden was a little too big to continue. So we put the car in the shop and eventually sold a couple years later.

Fast forward to 2017

After 5 years out of the car, I was at somewhat of a turning point in my life, with a new baby at home and quitting a job I had been at for almost 10 years I was looking for some part time work. I had worked nights for as long as I could remember but with a new baby at home it was just no longer something I could do. I knew an instructor at the DirtFish Rally School and I chatted with him about instructing there, and before I knew it I was doing a rolling audition in a 3 day program. I took an instructing job shortly after and the rest is history. I expected to enjoy driving again, as it had been 5 years since I had been in a Sprint Car, but it truly reinvigorated my passion for motorsports. As well as creating a new passion for teaching and sharing my love of motorsports and driving with people from all over the world.

the amazing things I didn't expect

I'm humbled by not only to cool things I get to do on a daily basis, but the amazing people I've met and worked with along the way. Celebrities like Jay Leno and Comedian Jo Koy. As well as some of my racing heroes, The King of Supercross, Jeremy McGrath. Top Fuel World Champions Antron Brown and Steve Torrence. I've had the pleasure of spending time with Team Subaru driver's David Higgins and Patrik Sandell, and learning a lot from those two as well, it was actually an extended talk with Patrik that lead me to working on my mental approach and ultimately creating my coaching program.

I didn't realize one of the coolest aspects of being an instructor was all the things I've learned from the incredible people I've gotten to work with and watching my students as they learn techniques and improve their skills. In looking back and relating it to my competitive career I realized that I didn't know what it took to take my skills and performance to the next level as I stepped into and incredibly competitive series. Since then I've implemented competitive strategies, techniques, and habits that have ultimately changed my life, and now it's time to write the next chapter of my story in working with talented competitors across many motorsports disciplines and sharing what I've learned along the way. So that they don't fall into the same traps and make the same mistakes that I did.
